As we begin our blogging unit here at Multimedia II I thought I should remember that I don't like to ask my students to do what I myself am not prepared to do. Well you know I think this is the hardest job of all, my first post. Yes I would like it to be good content! Yes I would like to introduce myself to my audience (even though they are the captive students in MMII)!
"Houston we have a Problem" I have to find a way to write intelligently about something I am reluctant to do. Write about myself! AAAUgh! This is scary-making to me.
As most of my students know (and this blog is mostly for and about them) I teach Art, Multimedia, Design, and Graphic Design for grades 9-12 at Sidney High School. Sidney High School is also where I went to school I took as many art classes as I was allowed, participated in sports, music, and generally had a good time with my friends.
I am married to the other art teacher at our school and we have 4 children. As you may have noticed, I enjoy being outdoors, when we have free time we like to ski, cycle, hike and backpack. We have had many "adventures" and even more photos. Lots of them involve Ben Darling, rain and partially working tarps and tents.
One thing that I am most proud of , is finishing a master's degree in Instructional Technology. When I started this degree there were not that many opportunities for students to work with technology and online tools and I thought that was NOT FAIR. So I signed up for the program and now we have Multimedia I & II, Design fundamentals and Graphic Design classes. I hope that my students have learned as much from me as I have from them.
